Bebe Paluzza means “baby party,” and Kampmeier has been having a party with her business ever since. “I am a visual person; real touchy feely. And as a single mom, I didn’t have time to research and know all the locally made maternity clothes and items for babies and toddlers,” said Kampmeier. “That’s why I started Bebe Paluzza. I left my job and never looked back. My son is the reason (why) I created it.” She has had three Maternity, Baby and Toddler Expos at the Indiana Fairgrounds which drew an average of 6,000 attendees and more than 150 exhibitors. The next one is scheduled at the fairgrounds Oct. 17 and 18. Kampmeier is also focusing on expanding Bebe Paluzza nationwide.Starting in 2010, her organization will have expos in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Denver and Des Moines, Iowa. “For 2008, those cities had the largest populations of births. That’s why we are taking Bebe Paluzza there,” said Kampmeier, adding that her non-profit sponsor is the Autism Society of America. “The line offers everything from bellies to tots. I’ve learned people are not only attending the Baby Expos for the products and services offered, but because they enjoy being around other parents and parents-to-be. There are a lot of knowing smiles and glances from parent to parent.” The parent-to-parent connection has led Kampmeier to start a group of smallerscale events where moms and moms-to-be can meet for a fun, relaxing night— “Mums Nite Out.” Mothers are finding a place where they can share stories with other moms, and get out of the house for an escape. “What’s so unique about Bebe Paluzza is within 14 hours at the expos, you have 6,500 consumers come through,” Kampmeier said, adding a portion of the expos are dedicated to green-friendly products and services.
